Parent-Child Mother Goose strengthens the parent-child relationship during the critical early years of life.
It is a preventative, 10-week program using songs, rhymes and stories to teach parents different ways of interacting and playing with their child. Children learn to interact with others and engage in activities fostering their social, language, pre-literacy and cognitive skills.
Who is the program for?
Parent-Child Mother Goose is a program for any parents with babies or toddlers. Groups are split into 0-2.5 year-olds and 2-4 year olds.
What do parents get out of it?
Parents strengthen the bond they have with their child. This connectedness is one of the foundations of children's resilience. Parents learn to read their child's cues and respond appropriately by participating in new ways of interacting with their young child. The aim is to have fun, soothe, nurture and promote trust in a relaxing, stress-free manner.
Through the Parent-Child Mother Goose program, parents and children gain:
- An increase in parenting confidence
- Positive changes in their children's development, learning and social skills
- Additional techniques for soothing and comforting their young children
- Strengthened parent-child bond
- A strong network of friendship and support
- A repertoire of songs, rhymes and stories that can be shared not only with their young children, but other family members in an inclusive, entertaining way
