Council Names New Acting Executive Director

Vancouver, BC (August 26, 2011) -- The Board of Directors of the BC Council for Families has announced that Glenn Hope is no longer serving as Executive Director of the provincial non-profit organization. During Hope’s three year tenure as Executive Director, the Council has continued to pursue its mandate to support and educate family serving practitioners in BC, and to inform and advocate for families.

“During the years that Glenn led the organization, the BC Council for Families has expanded its online outreach and delivery of information and services to both practitioners and family members across the province,” said Sylvia Tremblay, President of the Board of Directors.  “The organization’s commitment to finding new, innovative and cost-effective ways to connect with family-serving workers across the province is one that will continue to be a priority as we go forward.”

Marilee Peters has taken on the interim role of Acting Executive Director.  As Communications Director for the BC Council for Families for the past five years, Marilee has led the development of a number of new initiatives at the Council, including the weekly HealthyFamilies enewsletter, the Voices of Families podcast series, and online community engagement strategies and social media campaigns, among others.  She holds an MA and MLIS from the University of British Columbia, and has more than 15 years experience in both the non-profit and private sectors.
