The Province of British Columbia Proclaims National Family Week

Vancouver, BC, October 3, 2011 -- The BC Council for Families is pleased to announce that the Province of British Columbia has proclaimed that October 3 - 9, 2011 shall be known as National Family Week in BC. The proclamation confirms the province’s commitment to supporting children and families, and to working to create vibrant and healthy communities for families:

"in British Columbia we have a proud tradition of supporting families and a commitment to ensuring their continued strength. Government at all levels – provincial, regional and local – can support families by promoting policies that help parents and children to grow and thrive in positive and healthy environments. Children live better lives when their families are strong, and families are stronger when they live in communities that connect them to economic opportunities, social networks and services."

Canada’s National Family Week is all about bringing families together. The focus in 2011 is on "Putting Your Family Values Into Action". So during the week take a thoughtful look at what you value and how your parenting conveys those values to your children. It's a great time to stop and take time to think about the meaning and importance of family -- in our lives, our communities, and our whole society. It’s a chance to celebrate our strengths and successes, and an opportunity to remind us all that families matter.
