As a teacher of Parent-Child Mother Goose, you will help parents and young children in your community grow together. Parents will gain confidence as they witness the positive effect they have on their children through playful interaction with songs and rhymes.
Research has shown that shared words, actions, images and feelings from rhymes and stories enhance the relationship between parents and their children. Benefits include:
- Strengthened bonding between parents and children
- Strengthened development of children's skills
- Opportunities for parents to develop lasting friendships through the program
Why become a teacher?
The effects of Parent-Child Mother Goose continue long after the program. Insights are taken home and shared with older children, other parents and grandparents. The whole family will see benefits from this program.
Once you have completed training and are an experienced teacher, further workshops are available to continue your skills growth and refresh your practice.
Who is PCMG teacher training for?
Training is for any individual interested in leading or providing support during a program. Participants who attend training are intent on developing their understanding of the use of stories, rhyme and song to foster parent-child relationships. Program teachers have come from many different backgrounds including participation in the program as a parent.
What will I get from teacher training?
The first level in Parent-Child Mother Goose training involves a two-day workshop. The teacher-training workshop covers the materials, methods and underlying principles of the program.
Participants will learn to:
- Organize a session
- Build skills to reach your audience
- Use and teach rhymes and songs effectively
- Observe and respond to parent-child interactions
- Practice the basics of storytelling
When do I get certified?
Level One Parent-Child Mother Goose Program Teacher certification can be obtained following the Level One two-day core training and a self-evaluation process.
What comes after certification?
Once you have obtained certification, take your teaching skills to the next level with the Parent-Child Mother Goose Program Advanced Workshops.
