The BC Council for Families is a non-profit, non-partisan society that celebrates the diversity of BC families and promotes the healthy development of families. We are seeking a highly skilled, dynamic and creative individual with a proven record of success to lead our fund development activities. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fund development professional.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing the BC Council for Families’ Fund Development activities to provide long term funding stability for the organization. The incumbent will seek out new fund-raising opportunities for BC Council for Families in keeping with our values and philosophy, our strategic directions, and which adhere to standards of excellence.

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Fund Developer will:
- Create and implement an overall annual fundraising strategy.
- Develop a framework for attracting, tracking and recognizing monthly and major individual donors to the Council.
- Write grant proposals and seek out new funding opportunities
- Create and coordinate a donor appreciation program
- Develop and maintain a donor database, using constituent relationship management software (CiviCRM)
- Ensure community and donor relationships are developed, enhanced and nurtured.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience and proven record of success in raising funds for non-profit organizations
- A genuine belief in and commitment to the mission and vision of the BC Council for Families
- Post secondary credentials from a recognized fundraising education program
- Experience developing, implementing and/or operating a new fundraising program
- Demonstrated abilities in problem solving and strategic planning
- Experience working cooperatively with a non-profit Board and demonstrated ability to facilitate and mobilize support
- Demonstrated, well-developed skills in writing, presenting and networking
- Outgoing, articulate, and energetic
- Experience in a wide variety of fundraising modalities
- Proficiency in fundraising applications as well as experience working in a Mac environment
Terms of Reference:
This is a one year contract position with the possibility of extension based upon results. Flexibility to work some non-standard hours will be required.
