Learn More About the Father Involvement Network

In Canada today, the role of the father is rapidly evolving. Family structures are changing too. Parents and family service professionals are realizing how important a positively involved father can be in the lives of children, as studies continue to show children with involved fathers have decreased negative development outcomes.

FIN-BC helps professionals across the province to work together to support fathers. We connect professionals to best practices, new research, and tools and strategies. As a province-wide network, FIN advocates for the advancement of father engagement in family services, and active, positive fathering in the home.

Who can get involved?

FIN-BC is for any family service professional working with fathers and looking to engage fathers further. Connect with others in the family service sector with various skills and areas of expertise who have the same goal of promoting father involvement.

How do fathers benefit?

With increasing awareness that involved fathers positively impact their children's development, father involvement is on the rise. The fathering role is changing and the active presence of fathers has complex ramifications. Many fathers understand this and may feel unequipped or unsupported in the workplace or in the community.

Through FIN-BC's training and province-wide network, you will be able to help fathers gain the confidence and skills necessary to engage in family life including father-child relationships, co-parenting relationships, etc. You can provide a stepping-stone for further father involvement in family-oriented community programs by learning how to create a space where positive fathering is respected and encouraged.
