Core Home Visitor Training

FamiliesOur core training is the Integrated Strategies for Home Visiting program, which enables participants to put state of the art information and theory into daily practice for parents and children.

This engaging, interactive training program is packed with information, discussion, and activities specifically designed to ensure home visitors will emerge with the knowledge and practical skills to implement successful services for families.

The program is strengths-based, recognizing and utilizing parent/family strengths to build onto existing competencies and effectively address concerns. It is based on the belief that all parents have the resources to learn new skills and solve problems and therefore involves them in the process of discovery, learning, and coping with the challenges they may face.

Who is this training for?

The Integrated Strategies for Home Visiting Training is valuable for those new to working in home visiting programs for families with young children. Supervisors and program managers will also benefit from the program, which includes a fifth day of training specifically tailored to their needs.

In this 4-day skill-driven course, home visitors and other family practitioners acquire new tools for motivating and communicating with parents of infants and young children.  The training is aimed at supporting parents to form secure attachment relationships, to be involved in their child’s development, to strengthen the foundations of their family and solve their problems.

Concrete skills are gained through video demonstrations followed by hands-on practice with commonly encountered parenting and family scenarios.
