Action Plans are a key component of the My Tween and Me program
. We are pleased to be able to offer them in seven languages.
Thanks to funding supplied by the Vancouver Foundation, these handouts for parents have now been translated into Farsi, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
How To Use the Action Plan Handouts
These Action Plans are intended for use by parents in a My Tween and Me parenting education and support program led by a trained My Tween and Me leader.
Each My Tween and Me session ends with an Action Plan handout which gives parents a chance to reflect on their learning: parents are asked to answer questions about what they have learned and how they are going to use it. The final question on the Action Plans for Session 1 through 5 asks parents to commit to an activity that they will do with their child. The final Action Plan for Session 6 focuses parents' attention on their community and what role they can play in making their community a better place for tweens.
We believe this type of reflection and planning will be more meaningful for parents when it can be done in their first language.
