Is the money I received taxable?
Yes. Funds received should be treated as income for tax purposes. It is the responsibility of funding recipients to report the income from the Child Care Quality Enhancement Fund when they file their annual income tax return.
Will there be funding in 2010 from the Child Care Quality Enhancement Fund?
The Child Care Quality Enhancement Fund was developed to deliver funding to eligible child care providers in 2008 and 2009. There are currently no plans to extend the Quality Enhancement Fund to 2010.
What other funding is available to child care providers?
The Child Care Operating Funding Program assists eligible licensed group and family child care providers with the cost of providing child care in BC. For more information, visit their website: http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/childcare/operating.htm
Did I receive any money from the 2009 Child Care Quality Enhancement Fund?
All child care centres in BC that were open, operating and funded through BC’s Child Care Operating Funding program (CCOF) as of February 1, 2009 received a portion of the Child Care Quality Enhancement Fund. Funding cheques for 2009 were mailed to child care providers in late February 2009. Over 4700 centres throughout BC benefited from this funding in 2009.
