If you work in a prevention focused parent/child engagement role you may be interested in a new certificate program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia’s Centre for Counselling and Community safety.
Developed in partnership with the BC Association of Family Resource Programs, the Family Resource Program Certificate is designed to develop competency in addressing family functioning and supporting parents.
Eight courses, delivered over 12 days throughout the year, are designed to be experiential and practical. Topics covered include: the family resource program approach to practice, child development, communication, family diversity, working with vulnerable families, supporting families of children with special needs and program planning and evaluation.
The program was developed to meet the needs of current family resource program workers and people planning to enter the field. Practitioners in other fields may be accepted to the program, however priority is given to those working in funded Family Resource Programs as the fee for this training is currently fully subsidized.
