Reflective supervision provides an opportunity for staff to refelct on their own work in a safe, supportive environment. A professional, supervisory relationship encourages sharing in an atmosphere of warmth, acceptance, respect, understanding and trust, and it allows for experimentation and mistakes. The core belief behind reflective supervision is parallel process - nurturing begets nurturing. This paper describes some key theory and real world practice for supervisors to gain new skills.
