Young Parent Programs Receive Boost

This morning, Minister for Children and Family Development Mary Polak announced that the provincial government will increase support to Young Parent Programs in British Columbia.  Young Parent Programs will receive an increase in the monthly subsidy rate for children of young parents, from $850 to $1,000 per child, effective March 1, 2011.

US Daycare Study: Mixed Results, Missing Parents

BC Council for Families A recent report from the U.S. National Institutes of Health about the long term effects of daycare on kids has created considerable media excitement over the past couple of weeks. The study, "Do Effects of Early Child Care Extend to Age 15 Years? Results From the NICHD Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development," published in the latest issue of the journal Child Development, is either good news or bad news for parents with kids in daycare - depending on how you spin it.
