McCreary Centre Society

Description

About McCreary: McCreary Centre Society is a non-government not-for-profit committed to improving the health of BC youth through research and community-based projects. Founded in 1977, the Society sponsors and promotes a wide range of activities and research to identify and address the health needs of young people in the province. What we do: 1) McCreary is most well-known for the BC Adolescent Health Survey (BC AHS), which happens every five years in public schools across the province. 2) In addition to the repeated research projects, McCreary undertakes many topic-specific and one-off research and consultation projects with youth. 3) McCreary also carries out independent evaluations for other non-profit agencies. 4) Our Youth Advisory and Action Council is an opportunity for youth ages 15-24 to make a difference in their communities. To learn more about YAC or to join, visit http://www.mcs.bc.ca/yac 5) The YAC is currently offering Youth Action Grants (YAGs), to BC youth ages 12-19 from school districts that participated in the BC AHS to deliver a project which aims to improve youth health in their school or community: http://www.mcs.bc.ca/ahs_youth_resources
